Instant Translation Extension#
Teacher Ni Shuang @nishuang shared this Chrome extension anyLanguage.ai which is quite useful. Its function is to type /en + content in any webpage window, press the shortcut key Shift+Enter, and instantly translate and replace the original text.
After using it, I found several issues:
- The intermediate conversion requires about 3 seconds of waiting time.
- Sometimes it fails to trigger, so you might wait more than ten seconds without receiving a translation.
- Not all windows are applicable; for example, using / in Notion conflicts with built-in commands.
- Shift+Enter is a line break command in many windows.
So, how can we achieve instant translation in any dialog box, with no lag, globally usable, and customizable translation commands? There is a way.
Using Quicker's instant translation feature greatly facilitates our work. Especially after Google opened Bard AI, which currently does not support Chinese, this Quicker action allows you to write in Chinese, translate to English with one click, and display the translation for questions.
Better Instant Translation#
You only need to copy and install the Translate and Replace [Youdao Version] Quicker action.
At the same time, I have bound a text command for "Translate and Replace." When I input en to trigger the action, it translates and replaces, usable globally.
It supports back-and-forth translation between Chinese and English, and can be used in any text box. The speed is very fast, with almost no sense of lag, flowing smoothly.
With this translation action, you can use Bard effectively. Currently, I feel that Bard is not better than Claude; it does not support Chinese, and the answers are mediocre. However, Bard is the fastest free AI responder I have ever used.
